SEA

How do we feel empathy for events we cannot control? How can we process death in a meaningful way? SEA is an interactive installation about refugees drowning while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea.

The audience writes a generated name with water on a concrete wall and sees it disappearing while wave sounds in the background get louder and louder.

Water as a painting material is used metaphorically in the context of drowning, the names that get generated live by a neural network are unique. The orange rope reminds of abandoned life-vests.
