How do we connect emotionally to events that seem to be out of our immediate control? How can we process death in a meaningful and respectful way? SEA is an interactive memorial for refugees drowning while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea.

The audience writes an AI-generated name with water on a concrete wall and sees it disappearing while wave sounds in the background get louder and louder. Water as a painting material is used metaphorically in the context of drowning, the names that get generated in real time by a neural network are unique. The orange rope reminds of abandoned life-vests. The installation aims to give the unknown victims a possible name, the slow process of their name disappearing a time to mourn.
